3 things you need, to start planning your wedding

After proposal….

The proposal has happened, but you have no idea how to start planning the wedding. You’d like to dive into it right away, call everyone, seek advice from them, but at this moment, you might also feel that it’s all so complicated. However, it’s not. If you follow these first steps, then the planning won’t be so difficult after all. Here they are…

First step: make a guest list! You need to know how many people you’d like to have at your wedding. This will be very useful when you choose a venue, which is the next step. Children should also be included in this list, even if you don’t yet know whether the parents will bring them to your wedding or not.

Once you have an estimated number of the guests you’d like to invite, then you need to decide on what kind of venue you’d like for your big day. Hotel, tent, castle, cellar, restaurant, etc. Then, whether you’d like a venue with a garden or not, whether it would be near a river, a lake or perhaps by lake Balaton. So you should know all these details before you start looking for a venue. Sometimes it’s also important for the venue to have accommodation. But for this you also need to have an estimated guest list. That’s the base for everything.

Once you have a venue you can decide on a date. You can also choose a date beforehand, but the venue may already be booked for that date and you might not be able to have your wedding at your dream venue. I always recommend choosing a venue where you could imagine your big day first, then asking for an offer and available dates afterwards. Because once you have this information you can decide on when and where you’ll organize your big day.

These are the most important first steps.

Once you have these, then you can book the vendors and other service providers.

Another piece of advice I’d like to give you is: please go over the contract thoroughly and if you find something you don’t understand, then ask! Oh, and the most important thing is to always sign a contract with the venue and the vendors as well!
